HELLO GILHAM PARENTS/GUARDIANS

The intention of this newsletter is to provide you quick access to resources available via the 4J District, local to Eugene, or statewide. We have all certainly had our world altered by Covid and the impact has been felt more by some than others. As you are all a part of our Gilham Village, I want to do what I can to support our amazing families and lessen the impact as much as possible. I don't have a magic wand or a time machine (not sure that would work anyway) but I do have information on resources and opportunities! :) Please, let me know how I can help!

CHILDCARE RESOURCES

ERDC

Employment Related Day Care Assistance through DHS

Employment Related Day Care (ERDC) benefits may be approved for children participating in online schooling due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While formerly online schooling was not considered a childcare need (such as for home-schooling), ODHS recognizes the need for high quality care even while a child is completing their schooling virtually. Examples: helping child log in online, contact with a teacher, developing schedules to support a child’s distance learning and assisting with completion of schoolwork. Families and providers may contact the Direct Pay Unit at1-800-699-9074, Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm.

TREETOP

Childcare at Roosevelt Middle School

Treetop Academics is offering in-person certified childcare 8am-4pm Monday-Friday at Roosevelt Middle School for K-5th grade students. There are three enrollment options to accommodate multiple schedules. Winter term starts January 4th. Information will be updated as school districts make decisions concerning the return to school. Our program is in partnership with 4j to provide childcare in 4j middle schools. We will be able to accommodate one stable group of 20 students.

Childcare at Roosevelt Middle School:

What the day will look like:

During all school days Treetop will support the CDL learning objectives of our students. This will include connecting students with their teachers through their online platforms for both the Distanced-Learning synchronous and asynchronous parts of your student’s schedule. As your student’s schedule evolves throughout the term, Treetop will have other activities and breaks to support asynchronous learning. Most of the 1st half of the day will be devoted to supporting each individual student so they can access their teacher and materials. We will further support students so they can complete their asynchronous learning goals throughout the day.

Lunch:

We are partnering with 4j to facilitate access for those who would like a school-provided lunch. Lunch from home is also an option. Currently, more information can be found here: https://www.4j.lane.edu/2020/09/free-meals-for-all-fall-2020/ and we will update parents as more information becomes available.

2nd Half of the day:

Students will be online working most of the 1st half of the day. After the CDL support time and lunch, students will be able to access free-play and physical recreational activities. Treetop care will be located in one of the two RMS gyms. We will have access to outside play space so no matter the weather, we will be able to provide space for physical recreation and exploration. Treetop’s usual academic STEM activities can also be a part of of the day. The specifics will depend on both the COVID-19 guidelines for safety, and practical application of implementing a project-based curriculum in the safest manner possible. . During normal operation, Treetop Academics provides a robust after-school project-based STEAM program and we will be looking to implement as many of these projects and opportunities for students as possible.

COVID-19 protocols:

Childcares working with 4j will be following the same protocols as defined by the State of Oregon, Oregon Health Authority (OHA), Oregon Department of Education (ODE), and Early Learning Division (ELD). Treetop will communicate to parents the full extent of the protocols required once enrolled and before care starts. We encourage parents to view this ELD document for answers to specific questions about safety requirements of a childcare center: https://oregonearlylearning.com/COVID-19-Resources .

Quick Safety Synopsis:

– Face Shields or Coverings are required

– Daily Health Check

– Specific Pickup and Drop-off Procedures

– Comprehensive Illness/Exclusion Policy

Cost and Enrollment:

There are a total of 20 spots available for childcare. For the next term (until spring Break or we return to regular school,) Treetop will be open at the RMS site 8am-4pm Monday-Friday (except MLK day).

It is Free to register.

WE have three options for a childacre schedule to help redusce the cost for some parents.

All monthly registration costs are to reserve the day 8am-4pm January, February, and March.

Monday -Friday= $750/mon

Monday/Wed/Friday= $500/mon

Tuesday/Thursday= $350/mon

DHS ERDC and Jobs Program are accepted. Currently, ERDC subsidized childcare through DHS does not have a co-pay. Once registered, there will be additional paperwork and communication via email and/phone. There will be a wait list and if you have any additional questions, please feel free to email Jason@treetopacademics.com
