Hello Gilham Families,
Regular School Schedule -- The school schedule this year.
Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday starting at 7:55 and ending at 2:25.
Wednesday starts at 7:55 and ends at 1:10.
Open House/Curriculum Night Sept. 26th at 5:00-6:00 –We have changed the time of our Open house/Curriculum Night. The Open House/Curriculum Night will be from 5:00 to 6:00 on Sept 26th. This is a great time to see the classroom, learn about the year, connect with the teacher, and see the curriculum. This is not a conference time but instead a time to connect with the classroom.
The PTO will still have pizza by the slice and Otter Pops for sale. They are also inviting food trucks who will also be available for purchase as well. The PTO part of the evening will run from 5:30 - 7:00.
No Idling Zone – Did you know idling your car for over 10 seconds uses more fuel than stopping and restarting your engine? This is a reminder to families picking students up by car that there is a 4J No Idling Policy, and we ask families to turn off their engines when pause parking along the curb waiting for their child at pick-up.
• Parking Lot Reminders -- The parking lot is for families who want to walk their child to the sidewalk during arrival or who wish to meet their child at the end of the day at dismissal. Please note the following rules for the parking lot:
• ONLY cross using the crosswalk. Students and families should never cut across the driveway.
• Before using the crosswalk, students and adults must stop and look for cars.
•Curbside Pause Parking Reminders -- In the mornings, students may be dropped off along the curb. At the end of the day, drivers can pause park along the curb to pick up their students when they come out at dismissal. Please note the following rules for pause parking:
• Drivers must remain in their cars at all times.
• Drivers should pull forward as space becomes available.
• Drivers should NOT stop in marked crosswalk areas.
• When getting in or out of a car, students must use the door on the sidewalk side. Students should never get in or out of a car on the driver’s side. It’s unsafe for the student and it slows traffic.
Drivers must remember to ALWAYS yield at the painted crosswalks and sidewalks.
Volunteering Background Check Info – If any parents or guardians would like to volunteer at Gilham, you’ll need a completed background Check. See the Volunteer in Eugene School District 4J Webpage for details.
Sonare Singers – Sonare Singers is an after-school music program focused on teaching music through singing. We meet every week when school is open, and provide a safe and fun space for students to enjoy learning and exploring music.
Students will be introduced to core musical concepts, fundamentals of singing technique, a wide variety of musical styles and genres, and music theory. Parents will receive regular email updates about what we’ve been learning and more resources for encouraging your student’s love of music!
