Hello Gilham Families, 

• Regular School Schedule -- The  school schedule this year.  

Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday  starting at 7:55  and ending at  2:25.

Wednesday starts at 7:55 and ends at 1:10.

•  Gilham Penny Drive – This is the last four days of the drive.  We are halfway to our goal.   Help us reach our goal of $3000 (approx $500 per HOUSE) to directly support Gilham HOUSE activities! 

• Check Lost & Found Before Spring Break –  Remind your child to check the Lost & Found before Spring Break.  

• Jog a thon will be on April 10th –  Gilham’s goal this year is $30,000 or about $50 per student.  We will be raising money for Special Enrichment Activities, which could include field trips (like the 5th grade aquarium trip and the Kinder pumpkin patch), guest speakers, special assemblies, or classroom projects.  Envelopes should go home this Friday, so students can start fundraising!

Here are the times grades will be running.  

8:20 - 8:50  – 2nd

9:00 - 9:30  - 3rd 

9:40 - 10:10  – Kinder

10:20 - 10:50  – 1st

11:00 - 11:30 – 4th

11:40 - 12:10  – 5th 

Volunteers Needed – We need volunteers to help us on the day of the Jog a thon.  If you are interested in volunteering email the PTO at gilham.pto@gmail.com.  Make sure you have completed the volunteer application. https://www.4j.lane.edu/safety/volunteers/

FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL OUR STUDENTS: ANY ADULT ON SCHOOL PROPERTY DURING SCHOOL HOURS, MUST SIGN IN AT THE FRONT OFFICE AND HAVE THE WHITE PRINTED BADGE VISIBLE AT ALL TIMES OR THEY WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE. 

Day of Volunteers sign in as VOLUNTEERS

To make this event successful, we require around 40 volunteers during each running session. These individuals have to sign in at the office as a volunteer, which indicates that they have an approved 4J background check on file. These are the only adults who will be able to be out on the course and interact with the students during the event. If you would like to interact with the students, please sign up above as a volunteer.

Spectators sign in as VISITORS

We love having families come out and participate as spectators for this event. These individuals have to sign in at the office as visitors. You do not have to have an approved 4J background check on file but the system does a quick background check to approve you to be on the school grounds. We ask that all spectators stay on the side of the track by the side walks or on the side walk, do not go into the street or on the course, do not use spray bottles or misters on any students (even if it's their own child), remain positive for all our students participating, and be respectful to everyone around them.  

Siblings, who are between the ages of 0-5, are allowed to come out and be a spectator. For their safety and everyone else, please follow the guidelines of being a spectator and keep the younger children on the side of the track by the sidewalks or on the side walk and out of the way of the runners. 

Spectators who refuse to sign in at the office

For our students' safety, if you do not have a white badge visible or are not able to show us you signed in at the front office, you will be asked to stand out on the street sidewalk. You will not be able to step onto school grounds during the event or interact with any students. Campus security will be on site to manage any issues that may arise.

• GOLDEN APPLE AWARDS NOMINATIONS OPEN – Last week to nominate!!!! – SHOW YOUR APPRECIATION! Nominate a valued 4J employee or volunteer for our annual Golden Apple Awards at 4j.lane.edu/goldenapple.

Who do you appreciate? An inspiring teacher? An encouraging classified employee? An administrator who leads by example? An amazing volunteer who gives their all? Now is the time to recognize their contributions. Employees also can be nominated for the new Apple Seed award for early-career staff, the Lifetime Achievement award or the 4J Spotlight award (for individuals or teams).

• Knowing your Community Resources – April 8th, 6:00-7:00 PM at the 4J Ed Center Auditorium, 200 N Monroe St., learn about Community resources and activities available for your child and ways to access them. Engage with and discuss educational opportunities, camps, and enrichment activities.

Hola familias de Gilham,

• Horario Escolar Regular – El horario escolar de este año.

Lunes/Martes/Jueves/Viernes comenzando a las 7:55 y terminando a las 2:25.

El miércoles comienza a las 7:55 y termina a la 1:10.

• Colecta de Céntimos de Gilham: Estos son los últimos cuatro días de la colecta. Estamos a mitad de camino de nuestra meta. ¡Ayúdenos a alcanzar nuestra meta de $3000 (aproximadamente $500 por CASA) para apoyar directamente las actividades de las CASAS de Gilham!

• Revise los objetos perdidos antes de las vacaciones de primavera: recuérdele a su hijo que revise los objetos perdidos antes de las vacaciones de primavera.

• El maratón de jogging será el 10 de abril . La meta de Gilham este año es de $30,000 o aproximadamente $50 por estudiante. Recaudaremos fondos para actividades especiales de enriquecimiento, que podrían incluir excursiones (como la visita al acuario de 5.º grado y el huerto de calabazas de kínder), ponentes invitados, asambleas especiales o proyectos de aula. Los sobres deben enviarse a casa este viernes para que los estudiantes puedan empezar a recaudar fondos.

Día del Voluntariado regístrate como VOLUNTARIOS

Para que este evento sea un éxito, necesitamos alrededor de 40 voluntarios en cada sesión. Estas personas deben registrarse en la oficina como voluntarios, lo que indica que cuentan con una verificación de antecedentes 4J aprobada. Estos son los únicos adultos que podrán estar en el recorrido e interactuar con los estudiantes durante el evento. Si desea interactuar con los estudiantes, inscríbase arriba como voluntario.

Los espectadores se registran como VISITANTES

Nos encanta que las familias vengan a participar como espectadores en este evento. Estas personas deben registrarse en la oficina como visitantes. No es necesario tener una verificación de antecedentes aprobada por 4J, pero el sistema realiza una verificación rápida para autorizar su presencia en las instalaciones de la escuela. Solicitamos a todos los espectadores que permanezcan al lado de la pista, junto a las aceras o en la acera, que no salgan a la calle ni al circuito, que no usen atomizadores ni pulverizadores con ningún estudiante (ni siquiera si es su propio hijo), que mantengan una actitud positiva hacia todos los estudiantes participantes y que sean respetuosos con todos los que los rodean.

Los hermanos de entre 0 y 5 años pueden salir como espectadores. Por su seguridad y la de todos, les pedimos que sigan las normas de espectador y mantengan a los niños más pequeños al borde de la pista, junto a las aceras o en la acera, fuera del alcance de los corredores.

Espectadores que se niegan a registrarse en la oficina

Para la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes, si no tiene una credencial blanca visible o no puede mostrarnos su registro en la recepción, se le pedirá que se quede en la acera. No podrá ingresar a las instalaciones escolares durante el evento ni interactuar con ningún estudiante. El personal de seguridad del campus estará presente para atender cualquier problema que pueda surgir.

¿A quién aprecias? ¿A un profesor inspirador? ¿A un empleado clasificado que te anima? ¿A un administrador que predica con el ejemplo? ¿A un voluntario excepcional que se entrega al máximo? Ahora es el momento de reconocer sus contribuciones. Los empleados también pueden ser nominados para el nuevo premio Apple Seed para personal en sus inicios de carrera, el premio a la trayectoria o el premio 4J Spotlight (para individuos o equipos).

• Conozca los recursos de su comunidad: 8 de abril, de 18:00 a 19:00 h, en el Auditorio del Centro Educativo 4J, 200 N Monroe St., conozca los recursos y actividades comunitarias disponibles para su hijo/a y cómo acceder a ellos. Participe y converse sobre oportunidades educativas, campamentos y actividades de enriquecimiento.
