Calendar Change: 3 No-School Days Added — First new no-school day is Dec. 6 for elementary schools and Dec. 7 for middle and high schools

Three no-school days have been added to the 2021–22 school calendar. These will be no-school days for students and full work days for district staff.

  • Monday, December 6, is now a no-school day for elementary students. It was already a no-school grading day for middle and high schools.
  • Tuesday, December 7, is now a no-school day for middle and high school students. Elementary school students will attend school.
  • Friday, January 21, is now a no-school day for all students.
  • Friday, April 15, is now a no-school day for all students.

See the 4J Calendar Changes 2021-22 webpage for additional info.

Reminder about iPads — Students need to bring their iPads to school daily.  They need to be charged and ready for the day.  We have a limited number of extras and chargers in the building which means we may not be able to loan them one to use during the day.  Work with your student to start a routine to charge it at night and to put it in their backpack in the morning.

Message From the Nurse: Tuesday, December 7th is Gilham’s annual school health screening. Lane County Dental Prevention will do a dental exam for all students and fluoride varnish application for those that returned the yellow permission form sent home earlier in the year.  The Oregon Lions will perform vision checks for all Kindergarten through 3rd grade students. If your student wears glasses or contacts, please have them bring those to school and wear them for the k-3 vision screening.  Both screenings will follow 4J Covid safety protocol and students will be spaced a minimum of 6 feet apart for dental care.  A white ½ sheet form will come home in their homework folder about 2 weeks after the clinic with your student’s results. If you are not interested in having your student be screened for dental, vision, or both, please let me know and include if they have had vision care within the last year.
