Hello Gilham Families, 

School Hours — 

Monday – Thursday  starting at 7:55  and ending at  2:25.

Friday starting at 7:55 and ending at 1:10.

Doors open at 7:40.  

Fall Conferences — Parent – Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Tuesday, November 9 from 3:30 pm – 7:30 pm and Wednesday, November 10 from 8:00 am – 8:00 pm. There will be no school on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday that week. 

Conferences will be over Zoom. Watch for scheduling information from your child’s teacher. 

Meeting with your child’s teacher should help build strong parent-teacher partnerships. Partnerships are needed if you and your child’s teacher are to reach your common goal: helping your child get the best education possible.

BEGINNING STRINGS for Students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade – Registration starts Oct. 18th!

String Academy is a fun and exciting opportunity for your child to learn to play the violin, viola, cello or bass! The Eugene-Springfield Youth Orchestras (ESYO) is once again offering this wonderful program online. Teachers are experienced professionals with a passion for bringing the joy of music to young students. Our online program includes fun and educational activities to keep children engaged and learning! And they provide the instruments!

  • Online classes meet twice a week over Zoom starting November 1st either M/W or T/TH .
  • Times available: 7:25-8:10am or afternoons 3:45-4:30pm or 4:30-5:15pm.
  • Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Income-based scholarships available!

 No Dogs at School — To help protect the safety of students, staff, and families, please remember that dogs and other pets are not permitted on school grounds at any time, except as authorized by the superintendent or principal. For additional information, see the 4J Administrative Rules

Students can wear costumes to school — Friday, October 29th students can come to school in a favorite costume or fancy outfit. The following costume dress code will be enforced:

  • COVID face masks must cover the mouth and nose
  • NO weapons or weapon-like props
  • NO costume masks 
  • NO especially scary, gory costumes, or blood
  • NO inflatable costumes
  • NO dressing as another race, ethnicity, or culture

 

Drop Off and Pick Up — Parents thank you for your help and support as we work to make sure students are dropped off and picked safely.  We have had some concerns of safety on Honeywood Street from some of the neighbors.  If you are parking on the street in the morning or afternoon, please do not block the crosswalks, driveways, or park on the yellow curbs.  

Snacks for Classrooms — If you are sending in snacks for classrooms, please remember to check in with the teacher first.  Items should be nut free and individually packaged.  Here is a link to the 4j Wellness Policy on snacks — https://www.4j.lane.edu/nutrition/wellness/snacksuggestions/
