Keep Schools Safe, Stay Home When Sick — Check for wellness each day before coming to school
To help everyone at school stay healthy, students and staff need to be healthy when they come to school. If your student is feeling unwell, or if they or anyone in their home has symptoms of COVID-19 or other communicable diseases, they need to stay at home.
Symptoms that should keep a student home include:
- Fever of 100.4º or higher
- Chills
- Cough
- Headache
- Shortness of breath
- Difficulty breathing
- New loss of taste or smell
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
If your student has any of these symptoms, please keep them at home and call your school’s attendance line. Gilham attendance line — 541-790-6225.
If your student has been diagnosed or exposed to COVID-19, or is waiting for test results to check on COVID symptoms, please keep them home and notify your school.
If your student has a chronic health condition that could look like COVID symptoms—including conditions that cause a cough or shortness of breath, such as asthma or allergies—please talk to your school and document it in their health history, or they may be sent home from school if they are showing these symptoms.
Thank you for helping students and staff stay healthy in our school buildings. More Information: Health & Safety Protocols
iPads — Students need to bring their iPads to school daily. They need to be charged and ready for the day. We have a limited number of extras in the building which means we may not be able to loan them one to use during the day. Work with your student to start a routine to charge it at night and to put it in their backpack in the morning.
Curbside Pause Parking Reminders —
- Students can be dropped off at the curb before the crosswalk. Do not let students out at the corner of the parking lot, it blocks traffic.
- When getting in or out of a car, students must use the door on the sidewalk side. Students should never get in or out of a car on the driver’s side. It’s unsafe for the student and it slows traffic.
- If your student is unable to buckle themselves or needs assistance getting in and out of the carseat then you will need to park so they can get safely buckled in.
Drivers must remember to ALWAYS yield at the painted crosswalks and sidewalks.
Street Parking — If you are parking on the street in the morning or afternoon, please do not block the crosswalks, driveways, or park on the yellow curbs.
Dress for the Weather — Mornings are getting chilly, and Oregon rain has returned. Please help your child dress for the weather while they wait lined up outside in the morning to enter the building and when they go out to recess.
